JRC sponsored and participated in the 40th Annual Marine Corps Marathon and 10K
November 5, 2015: Washington, D.C.- JRC sponsored and participated in the 40th Annual Marine Corps Marathon and 10K in Washington, D.C. on October 25, 2015. The event honors fallen military heros, and JRC’s sponsorship supports the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS).
JRC Integrated Systems, Inc. was a prominent sponsor for TAPS during the Sunday morning marathon and 10K. TAPS is a national non-profit organization providing support to those who have lost a loved one serving in the Armed Forces. TAPS held a “carb-load” dinner at the Doubletree in Crystal City the evening before race day. JRC marathon participant Ben Garcia prepared for the race running over 10 miles per week while also training for a 204-mile relay race with co-worker Neil Smith. Garcia and Smith ran 29 miles and 25 miles respectively of the DC Ragnar relay, just three weeks prior to the Marine Corps Marathon. As Garcia stated, “We like to remember Tony R’s saying: ‘We run because it’s hard.’” Garcia finished the Marine Corps Marathon in just four hours, an impressive feat.
This year, team JRC ran to remember and celebrate the life of Carlo Ferrari from Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). As a primary customer for JRC, Ferrari was instrumental in mentoring many of our employees. He was a client and a friend who encouraged employees to position themselves for success, inspiring many to seek advanced degrees and helped employees navigate many personal and professional challenges. Ferrari was a proud Veteran who served as a Pararescueman for the United States Air Force, an Army Green Beret, a Strategic Weapons Officer for the Navy, and a Navy civilian in the office of SSP, leading his team to the design and build of SWS Ashore at CCAFS, Florida. JRC was proud to run in Ferrari’s honor.
